Mike D of the legendary Beastie Boys is the patron and creative head of a festival called The Avant/Garde Diaries in Los Angeles that just started 2 days ago on April 20 (appropriate) and runs until May 6, 2012. Mike invited 17 artists from all different backgrounds to create an amazing 17 day event consisting of concerts, DJ nights, performances, and installations. The events take place at the MOCA museum in Los Angeles and you can find out more about the event HERE.

One of the artists being celebrated is actually one of my favorites in the creative community, Roy Choi, who is the much celebrated chef who started the food truck craze with his creation of the Kogi truck. I can also say I’m sure he’s one of the reasons why Twitter got so big too. Filmmaker Fridolin Schoepper made a video about Roy for The Avant/Garde Diaries. Roy will have a pop-up shop in front of the venue during the festival. I really want to go. Gah. Check out the video below and if you can, you should check out the festivities!
